Welcome to Porter Road
Porter Road is one of ten neighborhoods located in NSA Annapolis. These homes were built in 1905 and historically the residents of these homes held Key and Essential positions related to their duties while stationed at the United States Naval Academy. The location of these homes is considered to be the most prestigious area to live in on the "YARD" and is also nicknamed " Captain's Row". Porter Road is situated in a very high profile area and is passed daily by the many tourist that come to visit the United States Naval Academy each year. Just walking by these homes you can get a sense of the history these homes hold. The exteriors of these homes remain much the same as they did in 1905.
The Porter Road home interiors have been recently renovated to bring them up to modern standards. Great care was taken to preserve the historical moldings, hardwood flooring, ornate fireplace mantels and overall charm. Included in these renovations are updated kitchens with cherry cabinetry, stainless appliances and all new lighting fixtures. All the bathrooms have also undergone renovations adding new fixtures and lighting. Great care was also taken to preserve and restore any built in cabinets and any of the original bathroom tiles. Almost every room in the home has been wired for cable, internet and phone service. Several rooms throughout the homes also include ceiling fans.
The Porter Road homes are graced with spacious screened -in front porches that are often used for entertaining guests and neighbors. In the spring they come alive with their blue and white signature awnings that officially signal it's time to come out and enjoy the weather. In addition to the screened porch area, each home has a brick patio in the private fenced- in area of the back yard. This patio is a favorite for all grill enthusiasts!
Although Porter Road is a pet friendly community there are certain restrictions. Neighborhood amenities include two pools with adjacent snack shops, several tot-lots and landscaped playgrounds. There are a wide variety of shops and services at the entrance of NSA Annapolis, and Porter Road’s proximity to downtown Annapolis assures easy access to the many restaurants and fine shops along the waterfront. The nearby Annapolis Mall and the shopping centers along Rte. 2 offer further opportunities for shopping, recreation and dining. There is a wide selection of K-12 schools in the surrounding area, and the Anne Arundel Medical Center is located just 10 minutes from the Porter Road Community.
